About

Nuclear Medicine is the medical speciality that uses the tracer principle, most often with radiopharmaceuticals, to evaluate molecular, metabolic, physiologic and pathologic conditions of the body for the purposes of diagnosis, therapy and research. The Council of Nuclear Medicine Science and technology, India (CNMST) was established in 2019 to recognize proven competence in physics/chemistry as applied to medicine. Candidates with suitable educational background and experience can certify themselves by passing examinations. Its primary objective is to certify physicist/radiochemist practicing in nuclear medicine. The certification process requires passing a two-part comprehensive examination administered by the Board.

MISSION

The mission of the Council of Nuclear Medicine Science and technology, India (CNMST) is to serve the public by enhancing & maintaining the educational standard across the country by identifying through certification of Institutions, cources and professionals involved in training, research and practice in Nuclear Medicine Physics, Chemistry and Technology. It also promotes quality healthcare by certifying individuals through psychometrically sound examinations to practice and advance in Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging. Education + Ethics + Examination = The CNMST Equation for Excellence. Membership certifies nuclear medicine physicist/radiochemist competence in the delivery of patient care and requires maintenance through recertification, while fellowship attests to excellence in the provision of clinical service, education and/or research. This provides the necessary mechanism for medical institutions to ensure that a high standard of nuclear medicine services are available for patient care.
